Why did county buy bank property?

As a Sussex County taxpayer, I can’t help but wonder why county officials purchased 15 Trinity St. in Newton for the new Board of Elections offices at a cost of $1 million.

Does the Board of Elections really need an acre of prime retail property with a single-story commercial bank building and drive-thru teller window to conduct its business?

There is no apparent shortage of less expensive properties to purchase (that might even have more space/floors for other agencies to share).

Even renting could be a more cost-effective alternative given the inflated costs of maintaining municipal properties.

Sussex County residents voted 2:1 for vice president Musk and his federal government cost-cutting, so why aren’t we also trimming local government spending?

    Hopefully someone can enlighten me.
