Andover Board of Ed. ignoring citizens

I am utterly aghast having just left the Andover Township Board of Education meeting where a turnout of over 40 concerned citizens voiced their opinion for the board to please take a few days, even weeks, before spending $6,500 to hire an outside consulting firm to conduct the search for a new superintendant for our school district. It was brought to the board’s attention that once again this year there aren’t tissues or hand sanitizer in the classrooms because of budget cuts. Taxpayers and parents pleaded with the board to table the discussion on spending the money until we know what type of superintendant we want; shared services, a principal/superintendant or a full time superintendant. To everyone (but one person’s) dissatisfaction, the board went ahead and voted 6:2 to pass the resolution and spend the $6,500. I have never sat in a room where those with the “power” told those who put them there that they don’t answer to parents or taxpayers so blatantly. It was an outrage, and the most disgusting abuse of “power” I have ever witnessed. Patricia Hannemann Andover
