Kittatinny Regional High School Swim Team udpate
Newton - The Kittatinny Regional High School (KRHS) Swim Team has had a stellar season and wishes to congratulates its swimmers.
KRHS had a meet at the HWS Championships recently and 18 of its qualifying swimmers achieved school records, The team took in career best times, top places, and more.
On the Swim Team's blog on the KRHS web site, it states the following; "We hung tough against some much larger teams with both our girls and boys finishing 5th out of the fourteen teams.
Medals for the top three places were earned by Jordan Maruska (2nd in the 200 Free); Billy Ruddy (2nd in the 500 Free, and 3rd in the 200 IM); with first place wins by Jake Riva (50 & 100 Free) and Sam Russell (100 Fly & 100 Breast)."
There were a total of 18 "scoring swims" by Kittatinny swimmers.
"New MOC times were earned by the Boys 200 Free Relay (Sean Sharma, Tyler Sweatt, Billy Ruddy, Jake Riva) and Girls 400 Free Relay (Jordan Maruska, Alyssa Amorim, Hannah Calderon, Sam Russell). They will be joining Sam and Jake as they all travel to Gloucester Institute of Technology in March. This is the largest number Kittatinny will be bringing to MOCs in school history."
KRHS also offers congratulations on breaking five school records to Jordan Maruska (100 Free); Samantha Russell (100 Fly); the Boys 200 Free Relay (Sharma, T. Sweatt, Ruddy, Riva); and the Girls 200 and 400 Free Relays (J. Maruska, Calderon, Amorim, Russell).
"Equally impressive was the degree of improvement by our swimmers; 22 of our 38 splashes were career best times. Many of these time drops were significant, like Alyssa Amorim’s 500 Free (-10.09), Hannah Calderon’s 500 Free (-7.82), Noah Leyman’s 200 IM (-5.79), Grace Maruska’s 500 Free (-5.96), and Billy Ruddy’s 500 Free (-16.43) just to name a few."
