NEWTON The Sussex County Chapter of the American Red Cross held a food drive for the food bank of the Sussex County Division of Social Services. According to the Red Cross, recent disasters have nearly depleted area food banks and have prevented them from helping county residents in need. “We're pleased to help our neighbors in need by organizing a food drive,” said Pat Day, Executive Director of the Sussex County Red Cross. The American Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides emotional support to victims of disasters, supplies nearly half of the nation's blood, teaches lifesaving skills, provides international humanitarian aid and supports military members and their families.
