On July 14, a Byram Township police officer reported seeing the driver of a vehicle appear to fall asleep while traveling on Route 206, and failing to stay in the lane. The officer then pulled the vehicle over to investigate the situation.

While speaking to the driver, Lauren M. Kwiatkowski, 36, of Newton, the officer reportedly “learned that drug paraphernalia may be in the vehicle.” Upon searching the vehicle, the officer allegedly found an unspecified quantity of “suspected cocaine” as well as “several devices used to ingest cocaine,” according to the police announcement.

Kwiatkowski, a business analyst, was arrested, transported to the station, charged with the following and released pending a mandatory Sussex County Superior Court date: possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, careless driving, failure to maintain lane and failure to change address.
