People look at the drawings, art and essays in the Youth Empowerment Showcase (YES!) at Sussex County Community College’s Health Sciences and Performing Arts Center in Newton.


The Center for Prevention & Counseling in Newton kicked off its 50th anniversary celebration April 10 with a Youth Empowerment Showcase (YES!) at Sussex County Community College’s Performing Arts Center.
On display were drawings, art and essays of children and teenagers about the importance of steering clear of substances, such as alcohol, marijuana and vaping.
Also included were submissions to the center’s “What’s Your Anti-Drug, What Makes You Happy” and “Achieving My Dreams, Alcohol-Free” contests.
