Vernon. Vernon did not complete all testing and monitoring for total coliform and E. coli at Veterans Memorial Park from June 1 to 30. A notice said the township is required to regularly monitor drinking water for specific contaminants and “therefore cannot be sure of the quality of drinking water during that time. Prior to serving water to the public in June, we failed to perform the state-approved start-up procedures for our water system.” E. coli bacteria normally live in the intestines of people and animals. Most are harmless but some can cause illness.
