Scouts from Troop 85 competed in the Skylands District Klondike Derby on Jan. 25 at Mt. Allamuchy Scout Reservation in Stanhope.
The Klondike is an event where Scouts compete against other troops using an Iditarod-type sled and going to stations where their outdoor skills, such as orienteering, fire building, lashings and knots, and ice rescue, are tested.
The Troop 85 senior sled, the 85’ers, placed sixth overall.
More than 50 sleds, with 380 scouts from 42 different troops, participated in the event.
