Tenants move into Water Street Lofts
NEWTON. Sixteen units are occupied and the goal is for the entire complex to be ready by the end of the year, councilman says.
Sixteen units at Water Street Lofts are occupied and Building A was expected to be completed by the end of September, Councilman Matthew Dickson reported at the Town Council meeting Sept. 13.
The goal is for the entire complex to be ready by the end of the year, he said. In 2021, the Planning Board approved three four-story buildings containing a total of 100 units at 121 Water St.
Ooh La La Lashes is moving into 124 Spring St., and Boonton Coffee Co. is interested in opening a second location in Newton, he added. “They’re actively looking into that.”
Councilwoman Sandra Lee Diglio said planning has begun for the holiday parade, which is the Saturday after Thanksgiving.
Newton’s curfew became effective Sept. 14. It prohibits juveniles from being in a public place or establishment between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. unless they are accompanied by a parent, guardian and caretaker who is older than 18.
The town’s mural has been placed on the corner of Moran and Spring streets, Town Manager Thomas Russo Jr. said.
The council approved an ordinance establishing salary ranges for municipal employees and adding the positions of animal control officer and deputy animal control officer.
