— Friends of Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge will host a program about mountain lions on Saturday, April 1 starting at 1 PM. The presentation will be held at 136 Owens Station Road, Sussex, New Jersey. Wildlife biologist Dorothy Wells will be giving the talk about this large feline and answering questions about its natural history, ecology, how to identify signs of its presence, and if it could be found in the area.
Dr. Wells has studied mountain lions in the Black Hills of South Dakota and with North Dakota's Game and Fish Department. Her research involved capturing a lion and fitting it with a GPS collar to monitor its movements and learn more about how it survives. She currently works as a biologist at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge and Great Thicket NWR.
