Students create logo for NY Giants

— Several students from a sports management class at Kittatinny Regional High School created individual logos for an apprentice project with the New York Giants football team.

Business teacher Natasha Gialanella offered the lesson as a spin-off of Donald Trump’s Apprentice reality show, where teams work on a project and a winner is chosen.

In this particular case, the school project was judged by the Giants public relations department and a favorite logo was chosen from the work submitted by the class.

To prepare for the assignment, students studied the art of creating logos by learning the significance of sharp and curved lines, how simple forms can be combined to create something else, and what various colors symbolize.

For example, a company that wants to earn your trust may use the color blue prominently in their logo as a symbol of loyalty.

The students then viewed the current NY Giants team logo and researched the images of previous logos used by the football team.

Gialanella explained that “simple is better” because what works best is a logo that can be used on many different types of materials. After much discussion and review, the students submitted their creations to be entered in the contest.

It took four months for the Giants to choose the logo and students were recently notified and received prizes.

The logo chosen as favorite was submitted by Tyler Foster, who received a Giants T-shirt for his effort.
