Sparta Books celebrates Waldo's birthday

SPARTA — Where's Waldo? In Sparta of course. To celebrate Waldo's 25th birthday this year, Sparta Books hosted a scavenger hunt with 20 local businesses during the month of July. One hundred children participated and searched for Waldo in the following establishments: Sparta Dairy, The Pizza Place, Sparta Theatre, Villa Capri, Sparta Lanes, Rita's Ice, Krogh's, TCBY, Casa Mia, Frank's Pizza, Nutty Over Sweets, Sparta Library, Homer's, Cloveberry, Greene's Beans, RJ Mars, Garlic & Oil, Acting-A-Part, Clark's Crepes and The Toy Man. Throughout the month, there were prizes awarded to players, and on July 31 there was Waldo Finale Party at Sparta Books with grand prizes, a Waldo ice cream cake and assorted fun. "The scavenger hunt was a creative and fun way for Sparta Books to celebrate all that's wonderful about our local businesses. Our plan was to drive customers — both old and new — to these businesses, promoting our Shop Local message, and bolstering our shared sense of community in Sparta," said book store owner, Donna Fell.
