ShopRite of Newton “Packs the Pantry”

Newton — On Sept. 17, the ShopRite of Newton was the proud host of a “Pack the Pantry” event, where customers and ShopRite associates generously donated non-perishable items to the Sussex County Social Services Food Pantry. The event was a huge success, and the community came together for a great cause that is close to home.
Sergeant Frank Philhower of the Newton Police Department was in attendance to create awareness of hunger throughout our community. Because of the generous donations, 126 bags of groceries were donated, and the Sussex County Social Services Food Pantry now has a cruiser-sized shopping order to fill its shelves.
RoNetco Supermarkets, with stores in Morris, Sussex and Warren counties, is committed to fighting hunger in the towns surrounding its stores. In 2015, the seven RoNetco ShopRite stores alone raised in excess of $94,400 for the ShopRite Partners in Caring program, a year-round hunger-fighting initiative that supports numerous local food pantries in its trading area.
