Sasha Nelson of Sparta to appear at The Growing Stage
Sparta — Sasha Nelson, fourth- grader at Helen Morgan Elementary School, will have a major role in The Growing Stage's upcoming performance of "Really Rosie."
Although only 9 -years- old, Sasha auditions regularly in New York City for commercials, televion and film shows. She has appeared in numerous advertising and modeling campaigns.
Recently, Sasha was a runner up for a small role on "Orange is the New Black, " season three.
Past performances include Drama Geek's "You're a Good Man Charlie Brown" and " Matilda.
"Really Rosie " is her first major role in a larger production.
Rosie, the sassiest kid on her block of Brooklyn’s Avenue P, entertains herself and friends by acting out show business fantasies of Oscar winning movies.
Written by Maurice Sendak, renowned author and illustrator of " Where the Wild Things Are, " and other popular children’s books,
The show is appropriate for children pre-k and up.
Sendak is the winner of a Caldecott Medal, National Book Award, and a National Medal of the Arts.
The preformance is paired with music composed by the legendary Carole King, a winner of National Academy of Songwriters Lifetime Achievement Award, Grammy Trustees Award, Songwriters Hall of Fame, and the Library of Congress’s Gershwin Award for Popular Song.
Sasha enjoys performing but wants to be an allergist when she grows up.
