Riviera Tan held a customer appreciation day to celebrate 14 years in Newton

NEWTON - Sun-kissed skin appears healthy and enjoying a dose of warmth in the middle of the winter, for 12 to 20 minutes, can feel pretty darn good. While tropical destinations aren't always a possibility, but there's always a “Riviera” right here in Newton. As Riviera Tan marks its 15th year, owner Deb Singh says it's about keeping up with the times through maintaining current, clean equipment for its great customers. On Saturday, it was about free tanning, give-aways, food and fun.
“It's a way to give back to the great people who make Rivera what it is,” Singh said. “We're about more than just the tan. We feel that with a great tan comes more confidence about the way you look and feel. Riviera is a place where you can take a break from stress and where cell phones are replaced with gentle music, warmth and tranquility.”
The equipment is high end, and bulbs are changed regularly to ensure even tanning. Staff is educated to help customers decide on the length of the time they tan, depending on the strength of the particular bed, and their skin tone.
Riviera offers two levels of standup tanning as well as three levels of tanning beds.
Spray tanning is available for those who want to avoid ultra violet ray (UV) exposure. Spray tans are by appointment, and there are packages available.
Riviera's ultimate relaxation experience is the Cocoon Wellness Pod. This is a personalized dry heat sauna and vibration massage system designed for full-body comfort and relaxation. The Cocoon POD includes infared & traditional dry sauna heat features. While your body lies comfortably inside the Cocoon chamber, your head remains outside for your comfort and enjoyment. Some say it helps the winter blues by enabling customers to enjoy a warm, relaxing place for a few minutes. They also offer a myriad of aromatic tanning lotions and products.
“You don't need to have sand between your toes for great glow on the go," Singh said. “We're here to put a little summer in the Jersey winter and to help you keep your bronze year round.”
