Redeemer Lutheran Church in Andover Township has installed Peter Naumowicz as the new congregational lay deacon.

The installation ceremony Nov. 17 was conducted by Bishop Stephen Gewecke, president of the New Jersey District of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LCMS).

Naumowicz, a lifelong member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, successfully completed the lay deacon curriculum offered by the Atlantic District of the LCMS earlier this year.

He is a physical education and health teacher at Linden High School and serves as chaplain and volunteer firefighter with the Newton Fire Department.

Under the guidance of Redeemer’s pastor, the Rev. Brian Handrich, Naumowicz will assist in worship services, lead Bible studies, make parish visitations and help with outreach activities.
