Lovasi becomes Eagle Scout

Vincent “Vin” Lovasi is the newest Eagle Scout in Troop 85 in Andover-Newton.

The Newton High School senior renovated the teacher’s lounge at the high school as his Eagle Scout project.

He completed National Youth Leadership Training and implemented what he learned to help the troop run better.

He has held leadership positions in the troop, such as senior patrol leader, assistant senior patrol leader, scribe and junior assistant scoutmaster.

He also is a member of Woapalanne Lodge 43 of the Order of the Arrow, Scouting’s honor society.

Lovasi has earned 31 merit badges and the National Outdoor Award for Camping.

He accumulated more than 100 nights of camping and has traveled to places such as Boston and Washington, D.C. He has earned more than 468 frost points for camping outdoors in weather below freezing.

He also participated in multiple whitewater rafting trips down the Black and Hudson rivers in New York.
