Local artist teaches nationally

NEWTON — Kathy Milici, owner of 24 Karat Designs Calligraphy Studio in Newton, has been invited by four state calligraphy organizations to present design workshops as a traveling instructor this year. Milici has been invited to teach for the Society of Scribes in New York City, The Philadelphia Calligrapher's Guild in Pennsylvania, and The Birmingham Calligraphy Guild in Alabama. Milici has also been invited to present a workshop at the International Association of Master Penmen, Engrossers and Teachers of Handwriting (IAMPETH) calligraphy conference in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this year. At the IAMPETH conference, she will present one-day and weekend workshops in calligraphy, design, and business practices for artists. "National travel teaching is a dream come true for me," said Milici. "Any time you can share your passion with a broad audience, you are truly blessed." Milici continues to teach classes and workshops in her 9 Moran Street studio location in Newton. This year she is celebrating 33 years as a Sussex County business owner. Milici is an award-winning artist, calligrapher, teacher and mentor, whose work has been seen in national magazines and on television. A lifelong resident of Sussex County, she resides in Hampton with her husband, Santo. Milici's studio is offering a series of calligraphy classes for those at the beginner and intermediate levels that start on Feb. 18.
