KRHS teams visit elementary schools

NEWTON — Team spirit makes people feel good. There are even studies out there proving that. On Friday, Kittatinny Regional High School football team members and cheerleaders visited the four elementary schools that feed into the Kittatinny middle and high school programs to muster up some community spirit. As kids got off their buses, arriving at school, they were given a bracelet giving them free admission into Saturday's game.
“Promoting school spirit is more than just for the students: it's for the community,” said cheerleading coach Sam Lupo. “It is important to show everyone in our district that we are truly one big supportive Cougar family.”
Kittatinny Regional High School's mascot is the cougar.
The district is 125 square miles and contains four feeder schools: The Fredon Elementary School, The Stillwater School, McKeown School and Sandyston-Walpack School.
“Watching their little faces light up as they received school spirit bracelets from the high school students was priceless,” Lupo said. “They look up to these kids, and we want to show them the good that they do. National School Spirit Day was a success and we are continue to plan for more events like this.”
“It was cool to see them there,” said Stillwater School student Amanda Chadwick. “You don't expect to see cheerleaders when you get off the bus.”
Spirit kept on going at Kittatinny later that day as students gathered in the stands by the football field for a pep rally. The various fall teams were applauded for the middle and high school, and coaches even participated in the events.
If you want to catch a Kittatinny football game and see their cheerleaders in action, the next two games are at home. The Cougars will play Dover on September 17 and face off against Lakeland Regional on September 24. Both games start at 1 pm. All of the other sports schedules are listed at www.krhs.net.
