JCP&L complete project
BYRAM, ANDOVER — Jersey Central Power & Light (JCP&L) has completed a $1 million transmission line project in Sussex County designed to enhance service reliability in the area.
The project involved rebuilding nearly two miles of a 34.5 kilovolt line between Andover and Byram. The work included replacing 34 poles and conductors, in addition to installing lightning protection.
The rebuilt line is designed to provide increased switching flexibility and overload protection which is expected to reduce the frequency and duration of power outages in the area.
The upgrade is a part of JCP&L’s $200 million investment in 2013 designed to help improve service reliability and help meet increasing demand for electricity.
