Free seminar about the helping professions

    NEWTON — A free seminar about helping professions will be offered to teens and adults on Thursday, April 26, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Project Self-Sufficiency. Newton Medical Center Chaplain Randy Parks, and Psychotherapist Randi Jeddis, will be joined by Sussex Middle School Guidance Counselor Mary Jo Vroegindewey and Project Self-Sufficiency Executive Director Deborah Berry-Toon for a discussion of their background, education and the tasks that accompany their unique professions. Questions from the audience will be welcome. Becoming You: Helping Professions will touch on positions in social work, counseling, schools and hospital settings, private practice, and more. The seminar is free and open to teens and adults, but registration is required. “Anyone weighing their career options or thinking about post-secondary training and education would benefit from the ‘Becoming You’ series,” said Deborah Berry-Toon, Project Self-Sufficiency’s Executive Director. “We are particularly grateful to the professionals in our area who have taken time out of their busy schedules to offer hope, inspiration and direction to those in attendance.” Becoming You: Helping Professions will be held at Project Self-Sufficiency, which is located at 127 Mill Street in Newton.
