Emma Church takes Roundtable Award

BYRAM — Each year, Byram Intermediate School grants the Superintendent’s Roundtable Award to an eighth grade student based on their academic performance, participation in extra-curricular activities, and their citizenship qualities. This year, the Byram School staff is pleased to announce that the recipient of this year’s award, representing the class of 2018, is Emma Church.
Emma works hard in all that she does in and out of school and always strives for excellence. Academics are important to Emma who has been on the high honor roll every marking period since entering Byram Intermediate School. Her favorite subjects are Math and Language Arts. She is currently taking a sophomore geometry honors class at Lenape Valley Regional High School.
Emma is proud to show her Byram pride by partaking in several clubs that the school has to offer. Emma was involved in the Drama Club for 2 years playing the fairy Vidia in Peter Pan and as member in the mission band in Guys & Dolls. She is also a Peer Leader, writer for Rampage, and a member of the school yearbook club.
Throughout the year, Emma is involved in a variety of sports/activities including Lenape Valley Youth Field Hockey, Byram Rams Basketball, Lenape Valley Youth Lacrosse and the Cranberry Lake Swim Team. She enjoys being part of a team and practicing with friends. Emma attends CCD classes at Good Shepherd Church in Andover. She was also a Byram Girls Scout for 6 years.
Emma is a member of the Cranberry Lake Community Club and has always been involved in improving her community. She volunteers for several youth activities including Kids Cuisine, Arts & Crafts, Girl’s Day at the Spa, and assisting the 8 & under swim team. She also participates in Club clean-up events to maintain facilities and remove litter from Cranberry Lake. Through the Cranberry Lake Community Club, Emma took a babysitting course and is a certified babysitter. She also received her boating license in 2017 which Emma feels has taught her a lot of responsibility while enjoying the lake.
Emma has attended Byram Schools since Kindergarten and would like to thank the administrators and staff for their dedication and support. She feels that Byram Schools has provided an excellent opportunity for her to learn and grow as a student and a member of the community. She would also like to thank her parents and sister, Alison, for their constant love and support.
Emma Church is honored to represent the class of 2018 as the Superintendents Roundtable recipient. She is extremely proud of all of her achievements and is looking forward to attending high school in the Fall. Through her many activities and volunteer efforts, Emma hopes to inspire others to work hard, get involved and be kinder than necessary.
