East West Academy hosts annual karate camp

Sparta — The East West Karate Academy of Sparta recently held its annual karate camp with over 100 students in attendance.

Sensei Scott Klinger and his team of black belts led several days of intensive training with students of all ages and ranks.

At the closing night shiai event, Sensei Klinger promoted two of his students, Jim Malaro and Matt Holdsworth, to advancement to San Dan, third degree black belt.

This rank requires years of training, commitment, and training of other students.
