BYRAM — The Byram Township Council passed a resolution on Tuesday night approving and awarding the sale of the Consolidated School on Lackawanna Drive to Gerard Simeone of Parsippany. Simeone and another bidder battled each other at last week's auction, eventually raising the selling price to $18,500 for the 76-year-old building that sits on 5.2 acres.
According to Township Manager Joseph Sabatini, Simeone identified himself as an attorney who represents an investment group.
The 10 percent deposit was paid in full.
According to a township ordinance, the buyer will have 60 days to close. In the event the buyer does not close within that time, the buyer will forfeit their deposit.
Although no future plans for the property have been announced, the property is restricted to the purposes of education, religious or municipal use only.
