Changing the Face of Addiction Walk to be held on Aug. 7
Sparta. Create a team, join a team, or walk as an individual. The sponsors say the important thing is to be part of something that is bigger than all of us.
“We are Sparta” — the team name evokes the glorious past of the Spartan army’s many battles and victories.
Another Spartan army is made up of local residents and their families and friends who have banded together to fight the dark foe of addiction. They will march on Saturday, Aug. 7, and have pledged to not rest until all forms of addiction have been conquered in Sussex County and beyond.
To join the Sparta team or make a donate, visit app.mobilecause.com/vf/CHANGING/team/WeAreSparta. Pledge whatever amount you’re comfortable with.
Create a team, join a team, or walk as an individual. You can choose to walk with the Sparta team on Aug. 7, follow the walk virtually, or choose your own private place to do the walk whenever it suits you.
The sponsors say the important thing is to be part of something that is bigger than all of us. Addiction has touched everyone in some shape or form and needs to be eradicated in our lifetime.
Share your walk experience and post a photo and tag our page @CFPCNJ hashtag #walktosavelives.
Recovery is real for people with substance use disorders, and the whole community benefits when recovery is more accessible. The Center for Prevention and Counseling in Newton provides a wide variety of programs and supports for people to recover. Our sons, daughters, mothers, fathers, brothers, sisters, husbands, wives, cousins, loved ones and friends who thrive in recovery then become the foundation for others to find hope, healing and a pathway forward.
