Byram acknowledges outstanding educators

— The Byram Township Board of Education has officially acknowledged Mrs. Annie Ryan, Byram Lakes Elementary School second grade teacher, and Mrs. Tracey Manser, Byram Intermediate School fifth grade math teacher, as the district’s recipients of the Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) award along with Ms. MaryLu Costanzo, Child Study Team Coordinator, LDTC/Case Manager and Ms. Meaghan McHugh, Speech Language Pathologist as the district’s recipients of the Governor’s Educational Services Professional (GESP) award. A panel of parents, teachers, and administrators selected the teachers and service professionals.
In making their selection, the panel identified Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Manser for their excellence as educators who inspire and influence their students to learn. Both Mrs. Manser and Mrs. Ryan have served the Byram Township School district for over 20 years.
The panel also identified Mrs. Costanzo and Ms. McHugh as extraordinary leaders in their professions who take pride in their fields to help our students. They are collaborative educators and professionals who have also developed positive relationships with their fellow staff members, students, parents, as well as administrators.
Mrs. Ryan is employed at the Byram Lakes School as a second grade teacher. Mrs. Ryan earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma Washington and her Masters of Education from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington.
Mrs. Manser is employed as a fifth grade math teacher at the Byram Intermediate School. Mrs. Manser earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Shippensburg University and her Master’s degree at East Stroudsburg University.
Ms. Meaghan McHugh is employed at the Byram Lakes School as our Speech Language Pathologist. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree at West Chester University and her Masters at Montclair State University.
Mrs. MaryLu Costanzo earned her Bachelor of Arts at William Paterson University and her Masters in Learning Disabilities also at William Paterson. She is employed at the Byram Township Schools as our Child Study Team Coordinator and LDTC/ Case Manager at the Intermediate School.
On May 11 along with other Governor’s recognition recipients from Sussex County, they will attend a convocation ceremony at the Lafayette House where they will be presented a plaque for this prestigious award. The Byram Township Board of Education will honor Mrs. Ryan and Mrs. Manser, as recipients of GEOY award and Ms. McHugh and Mrs. Costanzo, as recipients of the GESP award, at the May 23rd board meeting. The meeting is open to the public and will start at 7:00 p.m. The Byram School District is proud to have Mrs. Annie Ryan and Mrs. Tracey Manser serve as our 2017-2018 GEOY (Governor’s Educator of the Year) recipients and Ms. Meaghan McHugh and Mrs. MaryLu Costanzo as our 2017-2018 (GESP) Governor’s Educational Services Professional recipients.
