Bocce and Brew is back

SPARTA — The Sussex County Police Chiefs Association will be hosting their 2nd annual Bocce & Brew on Thursday, Oct. 5 at the Mohawk House from 4 to 10pm.
Comprised of all 12 of the county’s police chiefs, the Sussex County Sheriff and New Jersey State Police Sussex Station, the organization raises money to further educate and train Sussex County officers. This year’s sponsors of the fundraiser are First Hope Bank, J.Thomas Jewelers, Sussex County Automall, Tomco and Mohawk House.
A $45 per person donation includes food, beer, soda and bocce.
“We will be using funds to do training for officers throughout the county. By having this available to us, we can keep the training local,” said Secretary of Sussex County Police Chiefs Association and Byram Township Chief Pete Zabita.
Zabita added that the money received goes into a fund and last year’s proceeds went towards Critical Care Trauma training, Interview and Interrogation courses, and Property and Evidence maintenance.
Special prizes will be raffled off on Oct.5 at Bocce & Brew including a $1000 gift certificate to J.Thomas Jewelers in Sparta, generously donated by both J.Thomas and First Hope Bank.
"It's very rewarding to see the camaraderie and relationship building between all of the Sussex County chiefs while working towards building educational programs for the police forces. It's important to me that they get a chance to unwind and enjoy one another as well as their guests,” said Steve Scro, owner of Mohawk House. “I am honored and excited to be the official host and look forward to continuing the tradition.”
Tickets are available at the door on the day of the event and through all Sussex County Police Chiefs including: Andover Township Chief Eric Danielson at 973-383-5544; Byram Township Chief Pete Zabita at 973-347-2704 and Sparta Township Chief Neil Spidaletto at 973-729-6121.
Sussex County Police Chiefs Association is grateful to all of the event sponsors and the community support.
