Bird presentation to go batty over.

    Augusta - On Friday, March 15, 2019, the Sussex County Bird Club will present the following program: John Gumbs from BATS Research Center will speak about his experience studying bats and the methods he developed to diagnose and help bats survive the devastating White Nose Syndrome. He is a caver, cave rescue, technical rope rescue, and abandoned-mine rescue provider. John has 23 years of experience as a licensed wildlife rehabilitator (specializing in raptors and orthopedic surgery. He works in an emergency room, and is self taught in wildlife and biology. He has worked with bat biologists for 10 years and, due to a fluorescent mineral background, came up with the idea of using UV to investigate the deadly fungal disease. The public is welcome to attend the event at the Visions Federal Credit Union Community Room, 47 Route 206, Augusta, at 7:30 p.m. for this free presentation.
