State and local officials inspect a single-engine plane after it was pulled from Lake Aeroflex in Andover Township shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday afternoon The plane crash-landed in the lake late Monday morning after taking off from the adjacent Aeroflex airport. Recovery began late Monday and resumed on Tuesday, and included efforts by state troopers and park police, local law enforcement, and divers from Jefferson Twp. and Picatinny Arsenal. Lending support on site were officials from the NJ DEP and members of the Lakeland Emergency Squad. The pilot escaped serious injury during the crash and was able to swim to safety before the plane sunk.
