Ability Awareness Day at Centenary College

HACKETTSTOWN — Virginia Breen, co-author of a book on communicating with Autistic children, was the featured speaker at the recent Ability Awareness Day at Centenary College. The event was sponsored by the Centenary College Chapter for the Council for Exceptional Children. Breen spoke about her daughter and son’s journey with autism and conducted a book signing. Other speakers included students from Celebrate the Children; Sara Gonia, who spoke from the perspective of a sister of an autistic brother; Catherine Golden, who spoke as a parent of an autistic child; and a panel of Delta Alpha Pi, the Centenary College Chapter of the Delta Alpha Pi Honor Society for students with disabilities.
