2 students awarded scholarships
HOPATCONG. The Hopatcong Woman’s Club presents two $1,500 scholarships to local high school students in memory of B. Marlene Colabella.
The Hopatcong Woman’s Club has awarded two $1,500 scholarships in memory of B. Marlene Colabella, a beloved member of the club, to high school students living in the borough.
Brenna Loven ranks fourth of 108 students in the Hopatcong High School Class of 2024. She has been in the color guard for four years, plays varsity tennis, and in involved in competitive dance, the academic team and the literary magazine. She also is a member of the National Honor Society.
Loven plans to study chemistry at the University of Pittsburgh and aims to be a pharmacologist.
Katya Daly ranks ninth in the Class of 2024. She has been active in the music program for six years, playing in the marching band, jazz band and other music groups at the high school. She is in the National Honor Society and the academic team.
She had a job as a lifeguard and taught swimming.
Daly plans to major in criminology at the University of Maryland and to become a police detective.
The Hopatcong Woman’s Club meets at 10:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of each month (from September to May) at the Elba Point Beach Club building, 30 Ithanell Road. There is no fee for attending a meeting, and all are welcome.
