Feb. 28 Jeannie Zemlanski, 46, of Highland Lakes, pled guilty to theft, a third-degree crime. Sentencing is set for April 29. She admitted to taking jewelry from a woman she was employed as a babysitter for, claiming she needed money to pay her bills. This occurred on or about Nov. 1 last year. March 11 Tara Petersen, 29, of Slatehill, N.Y., was sentenced to three years probation. She must submit to a TASC evaluation and follow any recommendations. She must perform 100 hours of community service. She must pay restitution to the victim, pay total fines and penalties of $155, and submit a DNA sample at her expense. She pled guilty on Sept. 13 to theft, a third-degree crime. She admitted to police that between Aug.1, 2001 and Oct. 6, 2001, while working as a bookkeeper for VIP Storage in Vernon, she wrote checks out to herself from the company account in order to pay her bills. Daniel Guerrini, 21, of Branchville, was sentenced to two years probation. He was ordered to enter and successfully complete a long-term, inpatient drug program and must perform 50 hours of community service upon the program's completion. He must pay fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Dec. 20 to unlawful taking of a means of conveyance and theft of a credit card, both fourth-degree crimes. He admitted to police that, between Oct. 21 and Nov. 7, he took an ATM card from his stepfather and attempted to obtain cash from a bank but was unsuccessful and the card was seized. He also admitted to taking a car belonging to his ex-stepfather without his permission or consent. Melissa Kizer, 37, of Port Jervis, N.Y., was sentenced to three years probation, random drug monitoring, and must attend NA/AA three time a week and get a sponsor. She pled guilty on Dec. 13 to possession of heroin, a third-degree crime. She had been found in possession of four bags of heroin after a motor vehicle stop by Sparta Police Officer Terrence Mulligan. David Bryan, 24, of McAfee, was sentenced to nine months on theft of a snowboard and four years concurrent, but consecutive to the snowboard charge, for two burglaries. He pled guilty on Dec. 13 to two counts of burglary, a third-degree crime, and two counts of fourth-degree theft. On two different occasions, he broke into different residences taking various items, including a television, skis, snowboard, telescope and money. Sussex County Prosecutor David J. Weaver announced the sentencing of Nicholas V. Sylvester, 57, of Stanhope, was sentenced to a 10-year term in New Jersey State Prison with a parole ineligibility period of 8 years, 6 months. The defendant, having been found to be a repetitive and compulsive criminal sex offender, is recommended to serve his sentence at the State Prison at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Avenel. Sylvester shall also have to register under Megan's Law and is subject to community supervision for life. Fines and costs in the amount of $1905 were also imposed. He pled guilty on Dec. 16 to aggravated sexual assault, a first-degree crime. He had been committing the act of aggravated sexual assault between Sept. 1 and Sept. 12 of 2003, specifically by having sexual intercourse with a female victim who was less than 13 years of age. Kenneth Jackson, aka Leroy Jones, 48, of Ridley, Pa., was sentenced to 36 months probation and must serve 60 days in the Keogh-Dwyer Correctional Facility. He was ordered to obtain a TASC evaluation and follow all recommendations made. He must attend NA/AA three times per week, pay restitution, total fines and penalties of $730, and submit a DNA sample at his expense. He pled guilty on Jan. 4 to theft, a third-degree crime; two counts of bail jumping, one a fourth-degree crime and one a third-degree crime, and unlawful taking of a means of conveyance, a third-degree crime. Between July 14, 2002 and July 17, 2002, he accepted monetary payment for repairs and upgrades to a motor vehicle and did not perform the work but used the money for his own purposes. Between Dec. 10, 2002 and Apr. 3, 2003, he obtained a motor vehicle from another person and agreed to make timely repairs to it but instead kept the vehicle for an unreasonable amount of time, operating it as his own. He then failed to appear for two Superior Court appearance in connection with these offenses. Bartholomew Ligons, 38, of Newton, was sentenced to two years probation. He was ordered to obtain a mental health evaluation and follow all recommendations made. He must maintain employment and submit to random urine monitoring. He must pay total fines and penalties of $155 and submit a DNA sample at his expense.He pled guilty on Nov. 4 to theft, a third-degree crime. After being stopped by a Sparta police officer for failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign, he admitted to police that he stole a 1992 Mustang from the parking lot of the Burger King in Hampton Township on Jan. 21, 2003. Vernon Police March 3 At 12:48 a.m., Vernon Twp, Patrolman Ken Kuzicki stopped a 1993 red Ford sedan on Breakneck Road for failing to maintain lamps. A state computer check of the driver, Paul A. Lindblad, 22, of Highland Lakes, revealed an active arrest warrant issued by the Franklin Court for the issuance of bad checks. Lindblad was placed under arrest and was transported to Vernon Police headquarters. He was processed and then turned over to the Franklin Police Department, as he was unable to make the bail amount of $ 1,150 dollars.
