High school students can earn college credit at SCCC
NEWTON Sussex County Community College (SCCC) is offering several different ways high school students can earn college credit and satisfy general education requirements before graduation. College credit can be earned at SCCC, online, or through the student's high school. The Early College Advantage Program (ECAP) is available to high school juniors or seniors who wish to receive college credit on the SCCC campus or online. These courses are taken in addition to the student's high school schedule. Interested students may enroll in up to two courses per semester, including during winter and summer sessions. Anyone interested can contact the SCCC Counseling and Advising Center at 973-300-2207 with questions. The Concurrent Enrollment Program (CEP) allows students to earn credit through their high school schedule. These courses mirror those offered at SCCC and are monitored by administration and faculty to ensure that the instruction, curriculum, and grading standards match those of the college. Each course costs $125 and all fees are waived by the college. For more information contact SCCC's Assistant Dean Alberta Jaeger at ajaeger@sussex.edu or call 973-300-2176. High school guidance counselors also have information on the CEP. If enrolling at SCCC after high school, all credits earned will be applied to the desired certificate or associate's degree automatically. If planning to attend school elsewhere, students can request an official SCCC transcript be sent to the intended school for credit transfer consideration under the New Jersey Transfer Agreement. The ECAP application packet and CEP information brochure can be downloaded at www.sussex.edu or retrieved from SCCC's Counseling and Advising Center.
