Jewish Business Alliance honors Gottheimer's leadership
BUSINESS. U.S. Rep. Gottheimer was cited for his work in support of the Jewish community in North Jersey including his ongoing fight against anti-Semitism, hatred, and bigotry.
U.S. Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) was honored by the North Jersey Jewish Business Alliance with the “Excellence in Leadership Award,” awarded to public servants for their commitment to both economic development and to the Jewish community.
“As a member of the Jewish community and someone who spent much of my career in the private sector, I am always proud to stand with you all as we must all work together to help create jobs and develop North Jersey’s economy and our businesses of all sizes,” said Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) upon receiving the award. “My fight for North Jersey will continue to focus on fighting to reinstate SALT and lower taxes, cut bureaucratic red tape, improve our infrastructure, help our economy thrive, and protect our consumers. There is nothing partisan about these issues. Together, we can make New Jersey what it must be — a more affordable place to live, work, and do business.”
“Congressman Gottheimer – as a new, rising leader in the House, who is now in his second term – has really gone out of his way for the business community and the Jewish community, crossing the aisle and working in a bipartisan manner when needed,” said David Rosenberg, Executive Director of the North Jersey Jewish Business Alliance. “We are glad to recognize his work today, with our Excellence of Leadership Award.”
Gottheimer noted that North Jersey Jewish Business Alliance members traveled to Washington, D.C., to meet with him and other New Jersey delegation members to discuss how best to support greater job creation and economic development throughout the North Jersey region.
Gottheimer’s bipartisan work in Congress to support economic development, job creation, and business success in North Jersey includes: efforts to reinstate the SALT and charitable tax deductions, which were respectively gutted by the Tax Hike Bill and a recent IRS overreach; investing in fixing our crumbling roads, bridges, and tunnels, including calling for a Doomsday contingency plan from the U.S. Department of Transportation if one of the tracks in the 100-year-old North River Tunnels shuts down before the federal government lets the Gateway project move forward; and bipartisan bills to cut federal red tape and help create jobs and spur economic growth – all while protecting our air and water, our health, and our families and children.
Gottheimer’s work in support of the Jewish community in North Jersey includes his ongoing fight against anti-Semitism, hatred, and bigotry in all forms. Gottheimer also works closely with partners like the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness, and many local and religious leaders to push for more investment from the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, to ensure synagogues, yeshivas, Jewish Community Centers, and all of our houses of worship are protected from increasing threats of terror.
