John Scymanski
John Albert Scymanski died on Wednesday March 14, 2012 at Compassionate Care Hospice in Dover. He was 86. Born in Franklin, he was the son of John J. and Ella (Bath) Scymanski. Mr. Scymanski has been a resident of Ogdensburg since 1958. Mr. Scymanski was a Navy veteran, serving his country during World War II. While in the Navy he was a member of the Seabees and served on the aircraft carrier Saratoga and the cruiser Portland. In addition to being at sea he spent part of his military career on Midway Island. He was employed for 43 years for the Plastoid Corp. in Hamburg and had held the position of maintenance supervisor prior to the plant closing. Over the years he enjoyed flying radio controlled airplanes. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Mary (1975), a brother Thomas Scymanski, and sisters Joan E. Scymanski and Elizabeth Goarcke and a grandson Blake Scymanski. He is survived by his daughter Nancy Daniels of Hardyston; sons Gary Scymanski and his wife Betty of Wantage, Robert Dean Scymanski and his wife Kathy of Newton; a sister Janet Hucker of Sarosota, Fla., and four grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Monday, March 19, at 10 a.m. at the F. John Ramsey Funeral Home, Franklin. Interment followed in North Hardyston Cemetery.
