Sussex County Family Fest this weekend

NEWTON — Sussex County Family Fest, a day of great fun and lots of activities, will be held on Saturday, May 5, at Sussex County Community College, 1 College Hill Rd. in Newton. This free event, running from noon – 4 p.m., will be held outdoors, rain or shine, under tents on the lower athletic fields. Participants will get the opportunity to explore the Atlantic Ambulance Air One helicopter, which is touted as a "flying emergency room." There will also be a crystal bowl concert presented by Quantum Wellness in Newton. Free hands-on activities for kids and a bounce house will be sponsored by KG Companies Solar. Zumba and drum circle demonstrations will be presented by the Sussex County YMCA. Free health screenings will be coordinated by Newton Medical Center, including screenings for lung capacity, blood glucose, and osteoporosis risk assessment. Nursing students from Sussex County Community College will be taking blood pressure readings. Newton Medical Center will be providing Passports to Health at the Family Fest. Attendees that visit each Newton Medical Center information exhibit and present their passport will be entered in a raffle to win a Wii Fit. The day will also feature a yoga demonstration from Garden Of Life Massage and Yoga Center. More than 40 businesses presenting a broad range of products and services will be exhibiting and selling.
