'Nunsense' on stage this weekend

SUSSEX — The madcap musical comedy "Nunsense" continues on stage at the Crescent Theater with performances Friday, March 2 at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 3 at 3 and 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 4 at 3 p.m. The show is about a group of nuns from the fictitious Little Sisters of Hoboken, a one-time missionary order that ran a leper colony on an island south of France, who discover that their cook, Sister Julia, Child of God, has accidentally killed the other 52 residents of the convent with her tainted vichyssoise while these five were off playing bingo with a group of Maryknolls. To raise funds for the burials, they start a greeting card company but spend their profits before they've been counted. The sisters stage a variety show to raise the needed money and ticket holders for "Nunsense" are the audience. The variety show acts includes solo star turns, dance routines and audience participation. The cast is studded with local actors from Newton, Sparta, Hopatcong and elsewhere.
