Sparta - Singer/songwriter Patrick Fitzsimmons will perform at the Lake Mohawk Country Club at 8 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 5, as he continues the tradition of celebrating his birthday with family, friends and fans. Patrick will be accompanied by Rob Meehan (bass), Loni Bach (cello), Ned Stroh (percussion), Tom Askin (keyboard) and Leena Gilbert (violin). The concert will be recorded for a “live” CD. Fitzsimmons, a Sparta native, currently lives in Burlington, Vt. He was signed to RCA records with the folk/rock band From Good Homes in the late ‘90s. Since the band’s break-up in 2000, he has released three solo CDs on his own Itz Fitz label. Robert Resnik of Vermont Public Radio’s “All the Traditions” wrote of Fitzsimmons, “This man can really sing! The songs are carefully crafted and range from folk/pop anthems to masterful love ballads.” Over the past few years, Fitzsimmons has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the acoustic music scene, including Ellis Paul, Vance Gilbert, Cliff Eberhardt, Steve Forbert, Lucy Kaplansky and Roger McGuinn. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. for the concert. Tickets at $15 can be purchased at the door the night of the show, or in advance at Andre’s Restaurant in Newton, The Grist Mill Cafe in Andover, and at both Greene’s Beans Cafe locations (cash or check only) in Sparta and Hackettstown, and online at PatrickFitzsimmons.net/patrick_store_tix.html.
