Auditions for many roles in 'A Midsummer Nights Dream'
VERNON The Illustrious Theatre Company will present Shakespeare at the Lake again this summer with a production of the ever-popular A Midsummer Nights Dream. This magical, romantic comedy offers a wide variety of roles to actors, including two pairs of star-crossed young lovers, a host of fairies, a mischievous hobgoblin, a royal couple soon to be wed and a band of bumbling and clueless, aspiring actors. Four plots are woven into this timeless piece as the theme of love is explored and exposed for the madness it inspires in lovers on a midsummer night. Director Mary Clifford plans to set the show in the early 1800s with empire style attire and the fairy costumes all designed by Carol Chave of Highland Lakes. The production will take place on two midsummer weekends on the natural stage on the lawn of the Highland Lakes Clubhouse with the lake as its backdrop. It will run July 20, 21, 22 and 27, 28, 29. The production will then move indoors to the stage of the Ciccone Theatre at Bergen Community College in Paramus, on Aug. 2, 3, and 4. Auditions will take place on March 24 at the Warwick Town Hall, 132 Kings Highway in Warwick, N.Y., at 4 p.m. Auditions will consist of readings from the script. Additional auditions will be scheduled for mid-May. Actors and technical staff can contact Mary Clifford at 973-764-4936 and/or theillustrioustheatre@gmail.com.
