SUSSEX COUNTY-Over 30 area churches from Sussex County and Orange County, N.Y., have teamed up with a professional theater company to produce an ecumenical holiday event, Two From Galilee. Two from Galilee, a full-scale, Broadway-style musical, is based on the love story of Mary and Joseph and how God encounters people in their lives. The show is a musical adaptation of the best selling book by Marjorie Holmes, and this full-length production brings the powerful and majestic sounds of the stage musical to the Christian setting. The cast consists of over 70 performers, including professional actors and musicians, joined by members of many Christian Churches from the two-county area. The primary purpose of the production is to present the Gospel in a way that is attractive to non-churchgoing area residents. This production will present the Christmas message in a way that many people have never seen or experienced before. It is believed to be the largest single ecumenical project the region has ever seen. Two from Galilee will be presented over three weekends in the two-county area. The first performances will be on Friday, Nov. 25, and Saturday, Nov. 26, at the Lycian Theatre in Sugar Loaf, N.Y. The second round of performances will be on Friday, Dec. 2, and Saturday, Dec. 3, at the McNeice Auditorium in Sparta. The final performances will be from Friday, Dec. 9, through Sunday, Dec. 11, at the Newburgh Free Academy Auditorium in Newburgh, N.Y. Times are 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday night, 3 p.m. for Saturday matinees, and 6 p.m. Sunday. General admission tickets are free; premium reserved seats are $10. A free-will offering will be collected at each performance to help defray the substaintial production costs. “This message is too important to limit it’s attendance,” says Thomas Hallett, the event’s producer. “God said He would provide and we believe He will!” For tickets and information, go online to twofromgalilee.com or call 1-877-TWO FROM (877-896-3766), or 973-277-4376.
