NEWTON The Tri-State Actors Theater is accepting registrations for its spring acting classes and workshops for children, teens and adults. Chilren's classes for ages 6 to 12 begin March 24. Classes for teens aged 13 to 17, and adults, 18 and up, begin April 9. For more information, or to register, call 973-383-0510. Theater professional and teacher Patricia Meacham will be teaching the children's classes. Creative movement, theater games, improvisation and drama activities will be used to develop speaking skills, build confidence, and enhance creative learning. The final class is April 28. Classes meet Saturday mornings, from 10 a.m. to noon, at Sussex United Methodist Church, 15 Rt. 23 (Bank St.) in Sussex. Registration for the six-week class is $190. Classes for teens will be held April 9 through June 18. Tri-State Artistic Director and teacher Paul Meacham will guide students through acting skills, as well as involve the students in the presentation of monologues and two-character scenes, with individual instruction for every student. Classes meet each Mondays from 5-7 p.m. Registration for the 10-week class is $230. Advanced acting workshops for ages 18 and up are under the direction of Tara Bowles, a professional actor and teacher, for adults with or without acting experience. Class work focuses on the Stella Adler Technique, an acting method that helps actors be truthful on stage by fully believing in the circumstances of the play and scene study. Workshops meet from 7 to 9 p.m., April 9 through June 18. Registration for the 10-week class is $260. Parents, teens and adults who are interested in the acting classes may contact the Tri-State Actors Theater via e-mail at tristateactorstheater@centurylink.net, or call the theater at 973-383-0510.
