Photo contest for phone book cover

    SUSSEX COUNTY — CenturyLink is sponsoring a photo competition for the covers of their Sussex County and Sparta telephone books. The competition is open to all, but the photos must be of Sussex County. Two prizes will be awarded: a first prize of $200, and second prize of $100. All entries will be featured at the gallery at the Sussex County Judicial Center in Newton from Feb. 29 to April 4. There is an entry fee of $5 per print and a limit of four prints per artist. Prints of photos must be 11 x 14 inches and in a 16 x 20 mat. No frame is required. Acceptable subjects are well known buildings, landmarks, features and landscapes in Sussex County. People, churches or recognizable commercial property are not acceptable. Entries must have the name of the artist and the title of the artwork on the back. Entries and fees are to be delivered to the Sussex County Arts and Heritage Council on Friday, Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or Sunday, Feb. 26, from noon to 3 p.m. The Council’s office is located at 133 Spring St. in Newton.
