Byram Royalty Court Contest announced

— Byram Township has announced that the 2015 Royalty Court Contest will be held May 20, at 6:30 p.m., at the Byram Township Firehouse.

A rehearsal is scheduled for 7 p.m., May 18at the firehouse.

Applications are due at the Byram Municipal Building by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 15.

The Royalty Court Contest includes four age bracket categories, all with ages as of Aug. 1, 2015:

Miss Byram/Mr. Byram: Byram residents ages 17 to 21 years.

Junior Miss Byram/Junior Mister Byram: Byram residents ages 13 to 16 years.

Young Miss Byram/Young Mister Byram: Byram residents ages eight to 12 years.

Little Miss/Mr. Byram: Byram residents ages four to seven years.

Selection criteria for the two older groups include community involvement, academic achievement, accomplishments. For the two younger groups, emphasis is on communication skills, poise and confidence. Dress is formal or semi-formal evening attire for the older groups, and dress upfor the younger contestants. Casual dress is acceptable for rehearsal.

Each of the winners will receive various prizes and be honored at Byram Day 2015.

In addition, Miss Byram, Junior Miss Byram, Young Miss Byram and Little Miss/Mr. Byram are invited to represent their community at the Sussex County Farm and Horse Show this summer, where additional prizes are available.

Miss Byram is invited to compete in the show’s “2015 Queen of the Fair” contest on Aug. 1, and ride in the show’s opening day parade on July 31.

Applications for the 2015 Byram Royalty Court contest are available at www.byramtwp.org, click on “Community” then “Recreation Events,” and at the Byram Municipal Building Monday through Friday.

All Byram Township residents are welcome to attend the competition and cheer their favorite competitors.
