Byram police arrest man, facing multiple drug charges

— Byram police arrested a Franklin man last week after police found drugs in his possession during a traffic stop.

Michael R. Suckey, 23, is charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of a prescription legend drug, possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, being under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while intoxicated, possession of a controlled dangerous substances in a motor vehicle, speeding, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, failure to wear a seatbelt, bald tires and cracked windshield.

On March 5, police pulled Suckey over near Sparta road for speeding. While speaking to Suckey, the officer smelled the odor of marijuana, according to a Byram Township Police Department news release.

According to police, Suckey admitted to recently smoking marijuana. The officer found marijuana, several prescription pills and a smoking device in his possession, according to the release.

He was examined by a Drug Recognition Expert from the Andover Township Police Department, according to the release.

Suckey was later released and issued a mandatory court date.
